This position is a 6 month contract engagement. Must be local to the Washington, DC market and a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
Daily Responsibilities:
Ability to troubleshoot and fix complex problems quickly. Working with operations and systems support teams to resolve production issues in a timely manner.
Responsiveness to off-hours support requirements. Primary contact during a 1 week on-call rotation period, both on and off hours.
Being an effective team member of the Coverage, Database and Change Control group. Providing information on issues worked on to include follow-ups and closures.
Ability to work independently and come up to speed quickly on new and emerging technologies and applications. Completing assigned task on time with positive results.
Supports the production zTPF system and working with other key team members to maintain system stability.
Primary Coverage contact and GNOC escalation point for all system related issues
Execute scripts on development and production systems in support of both business initiatives and system support functions. Perform other programming and development tasks as assigned.
Develop and maintain operational scripts and procedures for GNOC, Business Recovery and other related areas.
Required Skills:
7+ years In depth knowledge of TPF and zTPF operating system environment
Proven experience in troubleshooting TPF System and Application problems including analyzing dumps, reviewing logs and traces. Strong Coverage background preferred.
At least 5 years proven experience of programming in IBM Assembler and/or C/C++ Language
Working knowledge of zTPF system internal, recoup, data collection. TPFDF, Posix file system, and MQ experience a plus.
Excellent writing and oral communication skills
Familiarity with standard PC desktop tools and utilities including IBM Toolkit, CMSTPF/gi and other TPF specific development tools.
